Canadian Real Estate Association
REALTORS® attending the 40th edition of PAC Days will have the opportunity to wrap up their experience by volunteering at CREA’s REALTORS Care® Day!
Volunteers will spend the afternoon lending a helping hand at a community resource centre that provides programming and services to Ottawa Community Housing (OCH) residents.
OCH, a member of the Canadian Housing and Renewal Association, a key Housing Canada Coalition partner, is the city’s largest community housing provider with approximately 33,000 tenants. They are also a key funder and maintenance partner for community resource centres that serve vulnerable residents across the Greater Ottawa Area.
Just minutes away from the Westin Ottawa, the Lowertown Community Resource Centre (LCRC), acts as a bilingual programming, social services, and clothing supply hub serving in-need Ottawans. Volunteers will play a role in the complete renovation and rejuvenation of their community house, helping to better serve more than 2,000 Lowertown residents.
What Volunteers Can Expect
The experience begins with a lunch orientation session at the Westin Ottawa. Volunteers will hear directly from OCH and LCRC staff on the impact of the day’s efforts, and how REALTORS® can take this experience back into their home communities. Participants will also receive REALTORS Care® volunteer shirts.
Volunteers will then be transported to LCRC’s Community House where they’ll be transforming the space by completing tasks, including:
- Building cabinetry and office furniture
- Organizing the clothing centre
- Sorting necessities and programming supplies
- Painting programming rooms
- Limited mobility options are available
The Westin return shuttle leaves at 5:00pm.
